The Minister of Energy, Victor Parlicov, participated in the anniversary event of the Chisinau 330 kV Electric Station, which is located in the village of Brăila and today celebrated its 60th anniversary. In his speech, the minister reiterated that the power station is of strategic importance, on which the security of the electricity supply of the entire country depends, but also the fact that this station has significantly contributed to the strengthening of the power infrastructure capacity in the country.
"Thank you for the effort you put in every day. Thanks to your work, consumers in Moldova had access to electricity even in times of crisis. Now begins a new stage not only of this station, but also of the entire electric power system in the Republic of Moldova, which, thanks to the support of our external partners, has begun to develop and strengthen its capacities. I want you to be proud of everything you have achieved so far, but I assure you that we will still have a lot of work to do", mentioned Victor Parlicov in his speech.
Present at the event, the head of the USAID Moldova mission, Zeinah Salahi, emphasized the importance and necessity of investments for the development of the energy infrastructure in the Republic of Moldova.
"The partnership between USAID Moldova and Î.S. "Moldelectrica" was essential for the development of modern and safe energy infrastructure in Moldova. We are proud to contribute to the transformation of the energy sector, ensuring that this system will support Moldova''s long-term energy needs", said USAID Moldova head of mission, Zeinah Salahi.
This financial assistance will be used for the new large-scale battery electricity storage system (BESS) as well as additional equipment, which will improve the reliability of the country''s electricity grids and contribute to the efficient management of energy reserves and demand fluctuations, and to the integration of energy from renewable sources.
In its 60 years of activity, the Chisinau Power Station has gone through multiple modernization processes. Thus, in 2012-2013 there was the replacement of power autotransformers, the major reconstruction of the primary equipment of the 110 kV distribution facility, the replacement of the first 35 kV busbar station, the installation of two new overvoltages, but also the reconstruction of the primary and secondary equipment of the facility of 330 kV open distribution.
Moreover, as of this year, the construction of the distribution facility for the 400 kV overhead power line, which will connect the 400 kV Vulcănești Electric Station with the 330 kV Chisinau Electric Station, is in full swing.
Chisinau City Hall, United Nations Children''s Fund (UNICEF) Moldova and Premier Energy Distribution, have joined forces to ensure the promotion and development of actions aimed at avoiding accidents and trauma due to ignorance or non-compliance with safety regulations and unauthorized intervention in electrical installations. Therefore, on November 11, 2020, the parties signed the memorandum of understanding.
