CWP Global, a large-scale renewable energy project developer has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Djibouti to develop a new 10 GW Renewable Energy and Green Hydrogen hub in the country. The massive-sized project will make a significant contribution to realizing the African country''s aspirations for cleaner and more secure energy supplies.
The renewable energy project will manufacture green ammonia for export purposes along with generating green energy for the country located strategically in the Horn of Africa. CWP Global and the government have not yet named the project. Also, the size of the electrolyzer is yet to be disclosed.
Mark Crandall, CWP Global''s Chairman, said the agreement signed has set a clear action plan for the company and the government on a new green power and hydrogen industry for the country. CWP''s discussions with President Omar Gulleh and their work so far with the Minister of Energy in Charge of Natural Resources, Yonis Ali Guedi, have confirmed their alignment and shared vision for the renewable energy hub.
The renewables and green hydrogen project will employ cable networks, pipelines, port loading, and drinking water for the local communities, creating green jobs and generating exports to fast-emerging markets for low-carbon fuels and industrial products.
The future project will diversify Djibouti''s energy mix and further open the route to emerging international markets for green hydrogen & derivatives, including green ammonia. The project is in line with Djibouti''s ''Vision 2035'' economic plan, which prioritizes closer cooperation with neighboring countries, including Ethiopia, where there is a good scope for collaboration on green energy.

CWP is playing a major role in delivering this new phase of sustainable and net-zero economic development in the continent.
