In February 2022, Infinity announced results from its test work at Dorfner Anazaplan in Germany which delivered battery grade lithium Hydroxide from feedstock from its San José Lithium Project.
The Project has further evolved with the development of an improved flowsheet utilising Infinity’s Li-Stream RPK. This innovative process removes beneficiation circuits, roasting and calcining from the process and therefore the need for natural gas. The process also has the ability to utilise the steam it generates to power the mechanical equipment further down stream.
These benefits improve the environmental credentials of the Project while significantly improving recoveries to over 90% to produce approximately 33,000t per annum of battery grade lithium hydroxide.
With heavy downstream investment within the EU lithium battery value chain, demand for raw materials well exceeds current forecasted supply. The EU market requires all inputs to meet the highest environmental credentials and is looking to be largely self-sufficient. With very few projects in Europe, Infinity''s strategic location in the EU and sustainable delivery practices puts us in the best position to service a European market.
