Key Capture Energy (KCE) will build three large-scale energy storage systems (KCE TX 11, KCE TX 12 and KCE TX 23) to participate in Electricity Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) energy markets. Powin Energy will be providing Key Capture''s projects with fully-integrated battery and battery management systems, as well as servicing them. MHPS meanwhile will be the projects'' engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) partner as well as servicing the systems'' DC equipment, power conversion systems (PCS) and high-voltage substations.
Texas Waves consists of two 9.9 MW short duration energy storage projects using lithium-ion battery technology and will be an integral part of the wind farm facilities near Roscoe, Texas. Texas Waves are designed to provide ancillary services to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) market and will be capable of responding to shifts in power demand more quickly, increasing system reliability and efficiency.
The projects, known as Angelo Storage and Great Kiskadee Storage, will have a combined capacity of 400MWh and will support grid reliability in the electricity reliability council of Texas (ERCOT) market.

Powin CEO Geoff Brown stated: "As Texas experiences more extreme weather conditions in both summer and winter months, there''s a growing need for cleaner and more reliable energy.
"With visibility and control down to the battery cell level, our platform can respond to changing grid conditions in real time. As these new storage projects are deployed, ERCOT customers in the region will have the assurance of a climate-resilient grid backed by Powin''s technology."
The 72MW solar plant and 60MW battery energy storage system (BESS) are expected to be operational in early 2024 and represent US$136.7 million in investment from X-Elio. The BESS will be the company''s largest to date and its first in the US.
At the ground-breaking ceremony, X-Elio announced a set of community plan initiatives to benefit the communities of Liberty and Harris Counties. The measures included in the support scheme included a community garden project and a food bank.
