Lulu Group, a prominent retail chain in the GCC, is pleased to declare the expansion of its collaboration with SirajPower, the leading distributed solar energy provider in the region. This extended partnership demonstrates Lulu Group’s continued dedication to environmental sustainability and green initiatives.

After a successful collaboration in the UAE, Lulu Group has entered a long-term solar lease agreement with SirajPower, facilitating the installation of advanced 10MWp solar rooftop systems across six key locations of Lulu Hypermarkets in Bahrain.

The solar capacity will be strategically distributed among various locations, including Lulu Hypermarkets in Riffa and Hidd, the Ramli Mall at A''ali, the Lulu Dana Mall in Sanabis, and the Lulu Logistics warehouses in Sitra. Al Namal Group, a leading local partner specializing in construction, contracting, real estate, property development and management, health, and hospitality, will provide expertise and services for the installation of these solar systems.

These cutting-edge solar panels are anticipated to generate approximately 17GWh of clean energy annually, leading to a reduction of about 12,078 metric tons of CO2 emissions each year. This initiative aligns with Lulu Group’s sustainability goals and supports Bahrain’s vision for clean energy.

The partnership was commemorated during a signing ceremony at Lulu Group''s headquarters in Bahrain, attended by key figures including Lulu Group Director Mr. Juzer Rupawala, Laurent Longuet (Chief Executive of SirajPower), David Auriau (Director and Board Member of SirajPower), Jeeben Varghese Kurian (Executive Director of Al Namal Group), and senior officials from both entities.

Juzer Rupawala, Lulu Group Director, emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, “Lulu has always been at the forefront of adopting sustainable options, and our partnership with SirajPower to bring solar energy into our power mix is a conscious choice to align ourselves with the Kingdom''s ambitious environmental goals to reduce carbon emissions by 30% by 2030.”

Laurent Longuet, CEO of SirajPower, expressed enthusiasm about the expanding collaboration with Lulu Group and highlighted their joint efforts in advancing clean energy solutions. The recent solar project in Bahrain marks a significant milestone, supporting the Kingdom''s goal of generating 10% of its energy from renewable sources by 2035.

Jeeben Varghese Kurian, Executive Director of Al Namal Group, expressed excitement about being part of this remarkable project, emphasizing the group’s keen interest in the renewable energy sector and its commitment to contributing to Bahrain’s sustainable energy goals.

This groundbreaking agreement positions Lulu Group as an exemplary leader in the region, showcasing its proactive approach to environmental responsibility and commitment to reducing its carbon footprint through renewable energy solutions. The partnership with SirajPower underscores Lulu’s steadfast commitment to creating a more sustainable and greener future for Bahrain, aligning with the nation’s environmental objectives.

Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, communities, retail, and leisure pioneer across the Middle East, Africa and Asia, has today inaugurated a 6.2 megawatt-peak solar power plant with Yellow Door Energy at The Bahrain Mall, operated by Carrefour Bahrain. Yellow Door Energy is the leading sustainable energy partner for commercial and industrial businesses in the Middle East, Africa and beyond.

The project was developed through a solar power purchase agreement ("PPA"), signed between Majid Al Futtaim and Yellow Door Energy. Over 11,500 solar panels have been installed on the roof of The Bahrain Mall, spanning more than 40,000 square meters. The 6.2 megawatt-peak rooftop solar plant produces 10 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy in the first year of operation, equivalent to reducing carbon emissions by 7,100 metric tons.

Laurent Hausknecht, Regional Director of Gulf at Majid Al Futtaim Retail, said: "It gives me immense pleasure to be a part of this momentous launch with Yellow Door Energy. The installation of the solar panels on the roof of The Bahrain Mall brings us one step closer to achieving our Net Positive Strategy. This will not only help us take forward the company''s vision of creating ''great moments for everyone, everyday'', but it will also allow us to translate the savings and environmental benefits into memorable experiences for all visitors at The Bahrain Mall every year."

Rory McCarthy, Chief Operating Officer of Yellow Door Energy, said: "Yellow Door Energy is proud to commission our first project in the Kingdom of Bahrain with Majid Al Futtaim Retail. This announcement is made extra special, following our agreement to bring solar power to an additional 18 shopping malls within Majid Al Futtaim in the UAE, Oman and Bahrain. We look
