The EU supports the Sustainable Energy For All (SE4All) Initiative''s objectives and places a strong emphasis on Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) where the needs are the greatest. To this end, the European Commission has created a EUR 65 million Technical Assistance Facility (TAF) to support developing countries which are committed to reach the SE4All objectives and to significantly scale up investment in the energy sector.

Gesto was selected to assist the EU''s SE4ALL TAF in the evaluation of Equatorial Guinea''s energy sector and of its institutional and political framework, in order to support the development of the country''s energy sector roadmap.

The main objective of the project was to provide an overview of available political, economic and sectorial information (reports, indicators, statistics) for the energy sector of the country, organized alongside two thematic areas.

Gesto is an international company focused on energy consulting and renewable energy project development. Gesto was founded with the aim of being a leading adviser and a trustworthy partner in creating sustainable energy sectors, thus improving people''s lives and making a world of difference.

During the revision process, UNDP has assisted the government in updating its greenhouse gas inventory, aligning the NDC with the Sustainable Development Goals and reviewing legal frameworks. This support also included guidance on renewable energy policies and capacity strengthening of national institutions engaged in the NDC enhancement and implementation.

GOAL: to promote an understanding, on a global scale, of the dynamics of change in energy systems, quantify emissions and their impacts, and accelerate the transition to carbon-neutral, environmentally benign energy systems while providing affordable energy to all.
