Talking to Gwadar Pro, Khalid Mehmood, CEO of Huazi Green Energy Pvt Ltd and Alfalah EV Motors, said that the electric car could be easily charged at home. The vehicle assembling plant & components are expected to arrive from China in October while the manufacturing will start in November 2023. While highlighting the project, Khalid Mehmood said:

"Government has already approved the plot allocation for the vehicle manufacturing factory in Hattar Special Economic Zone, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. We plan to start the booking process of EVs in January 2024. The project has two phases. In the first phase, 2 doors and 4 doors cars will be introduced. Our electric vehicles will be marketed to the middle and lower middle class. And these vehicles will have a lithium battery with a warranty of 100,000 km or 4 years."

Next, in the second phase, the company will introduce mini pickups and two-wheeled motorcycles designed especially for women, Khalid added. He also mentioned that the two-door electric vehicle can go up to 225 kilometers on a full battery. On the other hand, one charge will allow the four-door electric vehicle to travel up to 350 kilometers.

The electric vehicle displayed on the company website is actually the Omega Mini EV, which was formally launched in China in October 2022. There is also a video available that shows a walkaround video of the EV which in fact is a right-hand-drive unit. Besides, the 2-door Omega EV, the website also shows other vehicles including an electric motorbike, a 4-door EV as well as an electric pickup truck.

Coming back to the Omega EV, it is a 2-door vehicle with 4 seats. The front features a closed fascia and two instantly recognizable circular headlights with an array of numerous round lights beneath them. The rear seems to be protruding out of the C-pillar. There are black-colored door-mounted side mirrors, black roof, chrome door handles, alloy wheels, and black wheel arches while the back gets a high-mounted stop lamp and a similar circular light arrangement.

Inside, the dual-tone grey color combination interior features a three-spoke flat-bottomed steering wheel, a floating driver information display, a 9-inch floating touchscreen system with Bluetooth & Wifi, circular air vents, and electric windows. The Omega EV measures 3,444/1,550/1,535mm with a 2,350mm wheelbase. This makes it slightly longer, wider, and taller than the 660cc Suzuki Alto we have here (3,395/1,475/1,490) however Alto’s 2,460mm wheelbase is comparatively more generous.

In China, the Omega EV comes in two pure-electric cruising range options of 128km and 220km powered by 10.24kWh and 18.43kWh battery packs, respectively. Furthermore, the EV is equipped with a dual-motor four-wheel drive system. The combined power of the dual-motor is 24kW with a max speed of 100km/h.

Do note that the above specs & features are of the Chinese market version, while no official information is available for the right-hand-drive variant destined for Pakistan. For that, we will have to wait for August when the Huazi Omega EV is formally unveiled in Islamabad. Stay tuned to CarSpiritPK for more information.
