In an off-grid configuration, solar panels provide supply power to charge the batteries and power the house during the day. After the sun goes down, the inverter coverts the power stored in the batteries for use in the home.
Generac designed the PWRcell Battery Modules specifically for use in the PWRcell Storage System. Each battery module has a useable capacity of 3 kWh. The PWRcell 18kWh Kit includes 6 battery modules and module spacer kit. A battery cabinet can hold a maximum of six batteries.
The PWRcell 7.6kW Inverter converts electrical power from the grid, solar panels, or a generator for storage in the batteries or for use by the home. The inverter also converts power from the battery modules for use in the home during a power outage or when the solar panels are not producing electricity, such as at night or when the sky is heavily overcast. It has a continuous power rating of 7.6kW.
The PWRcell Battery cabinet holds the battery modules that store electrical power. Each cabinet can hold from three to six batteries for 9kWh to 18kW of usable storage. The addition of a second cabinet allows storage of up to 36kWh. A minimum of three batteries is required in each cabinet. An installer can easily upgrade the 18kWh Kit with a second battery cabinet (sold separately) and three to six additional batteries (sold separately.)
