
MUSCAT: The total electricity production in the Sultanate of Oman until end of July 2023 increased by 3.9 per cent to reach 25,133.6 gigawatts per hour, compared to 24,181.9 gigawatts per hour during the same period in 2022.
Preliminary statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) indicated that the governorates of Al Dhahirah, South and North Al Batinah recorded an increase in total electricity production by 1.8 per cent, reaching 16,007.2 gigawatts per hour.
Production also increased in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate by 137 per cent to reach 127.8 gigawatts per hour, as well as in the North and South Al Sharqiyah Governorates by 7 per cent, reaching 5,628.7 gigawatts per hour, in the Dhofar Governorate by 13.8 per cent, reaching 2,727.6 gigawatts per hour, and in the Musandam Governorate by 2.1 per cent, recording 260.7 gigawatts per hour.
Total electricity production in Muscat Governorate decreased by 12.7 per cent, recording 267.4 gigawatts per hour, and total production in Al Wusta Governorate decreased by 36.3 per cent, reaching 114.2 gigawatts per hour.
The Sultanate of Oman''s net electricity production until the end of July 2023, which includes the purchases of the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company and the purchases of the Rural Areas Electricity Company by region, amounted to 24,357.2 gigawatts per hour, with the largest amount of net electricity production came from governorates of Al Dhahirah and South and North Al Batinah, which amounted to 15,488.9 gigawatts per hour.
On the other hand, the total amount of water produced in the Sultanate of Oman witnessed an increase of 1.8 per cent to reach 301,986,800 cubic metres by the end of July 2023, compared to 296,770,000 cubic metres by the end of the same period in 2022. The production water in the Dhofar Governorate increased during this period by 3.1 per cent, and in Muscat Governorate by 1.8 per cent. — ONA
MUSCAT: Oman''s electricity and water production grew by .5 per cent and 5 per cent, respectively at the end of September 2022, according to the statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The Governorate of Dhofar recorded an increase in total electricity generation by 9.1 per cent, to reach 3,226.6 gigawatts per hour (Gwh) by the end of September 2022. The governorates of North and South Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah also recorded an increase in total electricity generation by 5 per cent, to reach 21,163.5 gigawatts per hour.
As for the Sultanate of Oman''s net production of electricity until the end of September 2022, which includes purchases by the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) and purchases by the Rural Areas Electricity Company, by region, it amounted to 31,459.7 GWh, an increase of 0.4 per cent.
The largest amount of net electricity generation came in the Governorate of Dhofar, with an increase of 9.5 per cent. The governorates of North and South Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah recorded an increase in net electricity generation by 4.9 per cent.
On the other hand, the total amount of water produced in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 5 per cent to reach 383.80 million cubic metres at the end of September 2022. The governorates of Dhofar and Muscat recorded an increase in water production by 8.7 per cent and 6.9 per cent, respectively, compared to the same period in 2021.
